Tinuhog ni Benny

As you know, I'm studying my Masters while working..And this week is the submission of Projects and Papers so it's now or never.. No sleep mode to all of us! Together with my classmates, we secluded ourselves at the 15th Floor Study Hall at Bro.Andrew Building. Good thing that the study area of Graduate School is different from the UnderGrad Area (at least we can own the place and have our own noise lol). Upon arriving at the Study Area, laptop is everywhere and we started to do our thing. Some are working on Advance Database Project while the others work on Strategic Management. It's a crazy day for us all right until around 8pm, we decided to call it a night! Just like other group study, we decided to eat first before we go home. I told them that there is a SteakHouse that I love to it near the school but unfortunately, we found out that it close early since it is Saturday. And so we think of an alternative for our grumbling stomach and smelled the wonderful scent of BBQ just beside the Steak House..Atlas we finally found our place, "TINUHOG NI BENNY!"

Tinuhog ni Benny is an ordinary eatery. No aircon. No fancy chairs. No cozy lighting. But there is TV and we were some how hooked with the Football Game. It featured the friendly match between the Azkals and David Beckham's Team which is held a block away from La Salle (that explains the traffic)..

We decided to order their value meal which is only P55per order.
I, Pauline and Cyrill ordered Pork BBQ+Rice+Sakto (any Coke Products)
Kristan ordered Chicken BBQ+Rice+Sakto (any Coke Products)

The BBQ

Me, Elmer and Kristan enjoying our own Sakto drinks

The Picture taker, Pauline

Elmer ordered Squid+Rice+Sakto (any Coke Products)

For every extra Sakto is P10 and Extra BBQ is P20.
The BBQ is sooo yummy.. Flavor is great! I can say that this is worth it!

At the end of our food adventure, the total bill only cost us P380 all in.
And so when we are about to get our money, Cyril surprised us by paying the bill...

Secret Recipe

November 12, 2011 (11-12-11) marks the 23rd Birthday of my brother, Lennon.Whenever there is a birthday in my family, I am always the one who is tasked to buy a cake. Since we have already tasted the cakes from Red Ribbon and Banapple, I decided to explore other bakeshop until I found a coupon from Ensogo! Coupons are a hit nowadays and it allows you to experience a product at a lesser price. So I did purchased the coupon and got the P900 worth of Secret Recipe Cake for only P450. I was quite excited at first since I've heard that they have yummy cakes.

There are several options to choose from and the one I chose is the one which was recommended by Secret Recipe, "Chocolate Banana."

I was scheduled to get the cake by Saturday, November 12, 1pm. I arrived before 1pm and I was informed that the cake is sold out. I was quite dismay at first since the instruction in the coupon says to call days before you will claim it to reserve the cake. The manager of Secret Recipe was apologetic and said that I have 2 options. Either I wait for the cake which will arrive by 3pm (they still have to wait for the delivery from a factory in Pasig) or I can choose from any cake on the coupon's list. Since I was excited for the Chocolate Banana months ago, I decided to wait. Good thing I brought my 10 pages case study (my Grad School Reading material) so waiting is no problem to me. While I was reading, the manager instructed her staff to give me a free Iced Tea (how I wish she added a cake :-)) to compensate for my inconvenience..

And so the time pass by until my cake arrived. Yeah! The cake comes with a cute spatula, the cake size is bigger in terms of diameter but there's no design on it unlike the cake that I usually buy. It's just plain chocolate on the outside. Anyway, I was excited of the taste because it is a cream cake and with the fact that it is chocolate banana, that made me want to eat it at once!

When I arrived home, my brother is not yet around so I have to wait until we open and eat it. By night time, my brother arrived and I finally get to taste the cake!
What does it taste? For me it taste "OK." Quite disappointed because I was expecting more. There was nothing special, thou its new to my palette. It is indeed cream cake and you can taste the banana but that was it. Can't help being reminded by Banapple's Bannoffee Cake. I know Bannoffee is different from Chocolate Banana but I was hoping that this cake will exceed the Bannoffee taste. Perhaps a Rum to be mixed on the cake will add a kick on its taste.

So there it is, it was good but I don't think it taste special. Good thing I got it at half the price. I think P900 is too expensive for such cake. Before I finally conclude with my judgment on Secret Recipe's Cake, I want to taste their Chocolate Indulgence Cake. "They said" it is the best but I have to judge it personally to know the truth. =)

This is the cake!!! Chocolate Banana..

Kangaroo Jack Steaks and Grill

After Sunday Service, I and Mai (my sister) went to Robinsons Manila to check a movie we can watch. Unfortunately, nothing suite our taste so we decided to eat instead. After running through restaurants, we saw a new steak house at the Faura Wing. It is called "Kangaroo Jack Steaks and Grill." We haven't eaten here and we both love steak so we decided to give it a try.

The ambiance is nice and crew are courteous and service is fast. However, the ultimate judgment is the foodie. I decided to order T-bone with corn and java rice(P200) and Mai ordered their "combo meal" (Soup, Fries, Carbonara, beef steak [P160]). After waiting for a while, they served Mai's soup and then fries and then her main course. Afterward, my steak followed.
